How to avoid a spiritual heart attack

Spread the love

One top-notch ice skater athlete who was in an excellent physical condition and outward appearance suddenly collapsed and died during a practice session. He was only 28 years old and he had a promising future in the sport he loved. But, what was the cause of his death? Examiners reported that he died as a result of a heart attack. The death of this young man was unexpected because he did not experience any symptoms or sign that indicated that he had a heart condition.

Medical authorities have pointed out several factors and signs that if left ignored, will result in a heart attack. They are as follows- overweight, severe chest pain, breathlessness and many more.

These medical authorities also went on to state some measures that could be taken to prevent this dreaded condition. Regular checkups and a good diet can go a long way in preventing a heart attack.

The Bible admonishes us to safeguard our heart because it is the source of life (Proverbs 4:23). This scripture is not referring to our physical heart; rather, it is referring to our figurative heart. What this means, therefore, is that we should prevent our figurative heart from diseases which can ultimately lead to spiritual death.

The best way to prevent a spiritual heart attack is to learn what causes it and to take quick steps to prevent or to do something about it.

Next, we are going to be looking at some factors that can negatively affect our spiritual health.

Diet- Junk food are often tasty but they offer no health benefits. In the same light, spiritual junk food is appealing, but they don’t offer any benefit. In fact, they can negatively affect your spiritual health.

Exercise- Studies have shown that people who are not physically active are more prone to having a heart attack.  In order, for you to be spiritually health you need to leave your spiritual comfort zone and do some spiritual exercise. Studying the bible is a great way to exercise yourself spiritually.

Stress- people who are stressed are prone to having a physical heart attack. The anxieties of life can also have a serious impact on our spiritual health as well. When we willfully engage in sinful practices we are indirectly damaging our spiritual heart.
