Since 1984, the Hobsons have been involved with two Messianic congregations in New Jersey. They attended Beth Messiah Congregation, Livingston, New Jersey, with leaders Larry and Fran Feldman and Israel and Judy Cohen. Currently they are members at Beth Israel Congregation, Wayne, New Jersey, where Jonathan Cahn is Senior Rabbi. These unique congregations are patterned after the first century congregations, where Jewish people and Gentiles worshipped Yeshua (Jesus) together.
Allen, originally from an Episcopalian background, attended a Jack Wrytzen crusade in 1944, where he personally accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as his Messiah. With his keen interest in history and Biblical prophetic events, he follows recent developments in the Middle East, realizing that the prophetic timetable is unfolding according to God's plan. Allen has visited Israel 5 times and Daisy has accompanied him on four of those trips.
Daisy, whose background is Mennonite (Anabaptist), became a believer in Yeshua as her personal Messiah as a child. Taking an Anabaptist church history tour in Europe in 1984 helped her to appreciate the Reformation roots of her faith and the price that many early Anabaptists paid to practice their beliefs. Studying about the martyrdom of Anabaptists that took place in sixteenth century Europe gave her an increased sensitivity to the persecution that Jewish people have faced. Among her experience in this field is 12 years working at the Provident Bookstores in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and 7 years experience selling Messianic products at the Beth Israel congregation. These experiences make her a valuable consulting resource to those unfamiliar with the Messianic movement.
Daisy and Allen's heart's desire is that the Christian Church come to a fuller understanding of the Jewish roots of their faith, to reach out in sincere compassion to share Messiah's gifts of love, joy, peace and salvation with Jewish co-workers and neighbors, and to all people, regardless of their background.
While the main emphasis is on Messianic products, bridge building between people extends to other groups as well. The Liberated Palestinian, a biographical account of a Palestinian Arab who became a believer in Yeshua, shows that Messiah's gifts of love and forgiveness can break the barriers of hatred and mistrust between Arabs, Jewish people and Gentiles as well.
